About Us
Practical support for people representing themselves
MacKenzie Friend was created to help self-represented people better understand, organise and present their family law matters.
Court proceedings can be stressful, technical and overwhelming. Many people are capable of telling their story, but need help turning that story into a clear structure the Court can follow.
We assist by helping clients organise their documents, prepare timelines, understand court processes, identify the issues in dispute, and present their material in a calm, logical and respectful way.
Our focus is practical support, education and preparation — not replacing a lawyer.
Why MacKenzie Friend exists
Many people find themselves in court without the financial resources to retain lawyers throughout the entire process. Others have used lawyers but still need help understanding their own case, preparing documents, or getting ready for a hearing.
MacKenzie Friend provides structured assistance for people who need to be better prepared, better organised, and more confident when dealing with the Court.
We help clients move from confusion and emotion to clarity, structure and purpose.
How we help
We can assist with:
Case organisation
Creating timelines, issue lists, document indexes and evidence summaries.
Document preparation support
Helping you structure affidavits, outlines, chronologies and written submissions.
Hearing preparation
Helping you understand what to expect, what documents to take, and how to present yourself clearly.
Court process education
Explaining common court steps, filing requirements, directions hearings, subpoenas and procedural issues in plain English.
Strategic clarity
Helping you identify what matters, what does not, and how to focus on the issues the Court needs to decide.
What we do not do
MacKenzie Friend does not provide legal advice unless that advice is given by a practising solicitor.
We do not act as your lawyer, go on the court record for you, or guarantee outcomes.
Where legal advice is required, you should speak with a qualified legal practitioner.
A calm, organised approach
Self-representation does not need to mean being unprepared.
With the right structure, a clear timeline, properly organised documents, and a calm understanding of the issues, you can present your case more effectively.
MacKenzie Friend exists to help you get there.
