About The McKenzie Friend
Practical support for self-represented people
The McKenzie Friend was created to help self-represented people get organised before the court process overwhelms them.
Family Court proceedings can involve solicitor letters, court forms, affidavits, annexures, disclosure requests, financial records, deadlines, and hearings. Many people are capable of explaining what happened, but need help turning scattered information into a clear, usable structure.
Our focus is practical preparation.
We help with document organisation, chronology preparation, filing readiness, evidence sorting, hearing preparation, and next-step clarity.
We are not a law firm and we do not provide legal advice, legal representation, or court advocacy.
Why The McKenzie Friend exists
Many people find themselves in family law proceedings without the financial ability to retain lawyers throughout the entire process.
Others have used lawyers but still need practical help organising documents, preparing timelines, understanding procedural steps, and keeping their material under control.
The McKenzie Friend exists to provide practical, document-focused support for self-represented people who want to be better organised, better prepared, and less overwhelmed.
The aim is simple:
Clear documents.
Clear chronology.
Clear next step.

What we do not do
We do not provide legal advice.
We do not act as your lawyer.
We do not tell you what orders to seek.
We do not predict what the Court will decide.
We do not appear in court as your advocate.
Where legal advice is needed, you should speak with a qualified legal practitioner.
A calm, organised approach
Self-representation does not need to mean being unprepared.
With the right structure, clear timelines, organised documents, and a practical understanding of the next step, the process becomes easier to manage.
The McKenzie Friend helps you get organised before the process controls you.
